With strong and devout support through their YouTube Channel, Rhys and Naimh started their boat renovation journey nearly three years ago with a dream of sailing their way around the world. While many people think sailing is all smooth seas, sunshine, sunsets, and beautiful beaches, it’s also a lot of hard work and can be incredibly challenging.  

They have laughed, cried and questioned a lot of their decisions within these past few years , but they wouldn’t change a thing.  It cannot be denied that sailing the world increases our knowledge and widens our perspective. To view new customs, different ways of living and other lifestyles is fantastic for the mind and soul. They cannot wait to travel the seas and follow the path that the wind will take them.

Zora is a 38 foot steel yacht that almost sank in 1998 on a trip around the world under a Swiss skipper. A fire that gutted her interior along with 15 years of neglect meant that she had to be rebuilt from the ground up.  Rhys and Niamh bought Zora in Feb 2018 after much of the steel work was complete, and a fresh coat of primer was laid down. The next 8 months were spent sanding, painting, rigging the mast, wiring the engine and getting the boat ready for launch. 

Launch day came in August 2018, on a warm and sunny afternoon. The 100 tonne crane moved her without a hitch, and the next few weeks were spent preparing for a small voyage to a new home, roughly 8 hours of sailing away.  For the next year or so, the interior work will continue and once complete Zora will point her bow southward and beyond. But for now, she is happily sitting pretty in her new home
